Joe’s passion for directing was born out of very humble beginnings.  He was approached by fellow actors for help on an audition, and when they booked it he realized that he got as much joy out of helping someone work though a script as he would if he were him doing it himself.  Then he started to be approached by actors, writers and other directors to see something they were working on and give his opinion on how to fix particular issues.  He began to realize that he had a natural sense of what needed to be changed to help tell the story better.  As his suggestions would be implemented, he would often see projects begin to come together and be clearer.

Eventually, Joe began directing his own projects.  His approach to directing is very collaborative.  He believes in the magic that happens when talented, open people get into the room and influence each other.  The result is always greater than the sum of its parts.  Writers and actors have said about Joe’s directing “He’s the only person I would trust with my play” and “He is compassionate, smart, collaborative and I would follow him anywhere!!"
